This year, taking into account the international best practices and the suggestions of the scientific community, the Authority decided to rename the Responsible Game to Safe Game, as well as to redesign the identity of the Week. The focus on safe play highlights the responsibility of the state and gambling providers to further strengthen player protection mechanisms. “Responsible Gaming” as a phrase, indicates that the player is primarily responsible for protecting himself. This prevailing view, although correct, needs to be revised and expanded. The phrase “Safe Gaming” emphasizes that in addition to individual responsibility, there is a clear responsibility both to the state and its institutions, as well as to gambling providers and all parties involved in the industry.
Additionally, the public can get more information about Safe Gaming at www.safergambling.gov.cy
